Why do I need a will?

To control and manage your estate when you die and to ensure control of who looks after any of your children, to control who your money goes to when you die.

Why do I need a power of attorney?

To ensure that people who look after you with your health and welfare and your property and financial affairs are people that you know and trust in the event that you’re unable to look after yourself (e.g., should you lose physical or mental capacity).

Who is allowed to make a will?

Anybody aged 18 or over and has mental capacity. There is no upper age limit for making a will.

Can anybody appoint an attorney?

You have to be aged 18 and over and must have mental capacity to appoint an attorney.

I have reading and writing difficulties – can I make a will?

Yes, you can make a Will, even though you have reading and writing difficulties. As a professional will writer, I’ll be able to read the will to you and ensure that the attestation clause is included in the will to show that it has been read over to you. You can sign just by making a mark.
